Step 1: Connect WhatsApp Chat to WhatsApp

Setting up your WhatsApp Chat widget is easy and only requires four simple steps. You’re currently on:

The WhatsApp Chat widget acts as an interface between your website and WhatsApp. When your visitors click to chat, it opens WhatsApp Messenger on their phone or computer. Therefore, your visitors will need to have access to WhatsApp Messenger to initiate a conversation.

To start using your WhatsApp Chat widget, you’ll first need to link it to your WhatsApp account. This article will walk you through the available options.

Connection Options

Phone Number

To connect your widget via phone number, simply paste your number into the input field in the Connect tab:

When entering your number, make sure to follow these guidelines:

  • Use your full phone number (Example: +13833739407)
  • Include the country code
  • Don’t start the number with 0 or 00

If you’re using a WhatsApp Business Account, you can connect it by entering a short link into the input field in the Connect tab:

WhatsApp Group Chat Link

You can also connect your widget to a WhatsApp Group Chat, allowing visitors to join the group chat directly instead of initiating a one-on-one conversation.

To get your group link, open the WhatsApp Group Chat, go to Members → Invite to Group via Link:

Copy the link and paste it into the Connect tab in your widget editor:


That’s it – your WhatsApp Chat widget is now connected and ready to go! 🎉 Now you can move on to customizing the widget content to match your website’s tone and style.
