Creating Search Engine ID

When creating your Search widget for the first time, you might have stumbled over the request to add your Search Engine ID. In this article, we will walk you through the quick process of creating your Search Engine ID, which will only take a few minutes.

First, you need to create your search engine. For that, please follow programmablesearchengine.google.com and click Get started:

Following that, you will be redirected to a form for creating your search engine. Here, you need to begin by providing a name for your search engine in the Name your search engine (1) section. You will then be able to modify this name at any point.

Within the What to search? (2) section, enter the site or site pages you want to include in your search engine and click Add. This option is quite useful if you want your Search widget to only display results from certain pages of your website, like a specific collection, for instance.

Once you've completed these steps, ensure to check the verification checkbox and proceed by clicking Create (3):

Congratulations! Your custom search engine has been successfully created! To continue, return to the control panel and select the search engine you've just created:

In this section, navigate to the Basic section of the Overview page, where you will find all the information about your search engine. Your next step is to copy your Search Engine ID:

Finally, paste the copied Search Engine ID into the Google Search Engine ID field within the widget's settings:
